Unmanned Ground Vehicle, UGV
SMP Robotics has designed two types of basic chassis platforms - SRX1 and SRX3 - that cover a wide range of applications.
SRX1 is intended for surfaced roads, while SRX3 is an off-road platform.
SRX1
SRX1 is a rear-wheel electric drive UGV powered by accumulators. It is well-suited for autonomous performance in parks and on surfaced roads. Pedestrian paths 0.8 m wide are sufficient for UGV to run. A visual navigation system allows the vehicle to detect and avoid obstacles and return to the preselected route.
The robot is capable of automatic performance in the daytime and at night. It is equipped with an electric-powered rear-wheel drive with differential. For winter driving studded tyres are supplied.
The wheeled robot is powered by three built-in accumulators. When they discharge the robot automatically returns to a charging point.

SRX3
SRX3 is an off-road all-wheel drive UGV well suited for unimproved roads, fire roads and snow-covered winter roads. Its off-road maneuverability is equal to a petrol-fuelled all-terrain vehicle with 350cc engine.
Visual navigation system enables the UGV to drive on uneven surfaces and long slopes, and orient by distant landmarks. It effectively determines obstacles and allows the vehicle to avoid them by correcting its path. The system keeps functioning in the conditions of unstable connection with a satellite navigation system.
The robot utilizes low-noise electric drives. It operates on a rear-wheel drive but can be switched into 4-wheel drive mode to improve traction when rear wheels spin.
The robot is equipped with a hybrid power unit that consists of lithium iron phosphate accumulators and a petrol-driven generator. The UGV is powered by accumulators. When they discharge at the end of a long run or power consuming performance (on a long slope or in saturated ground) a generator turns on and charges the accumulators.
